NYU Women’s Golf wins Liberty League Championship

ROME, N.Y. -- The No. 3-ranked New York University (NYU) women's golf team won the 2026 Liberty League Championship on Saturday, May 2, at Teugega Country Club. It was their first conference title since 2024 and the Violets' 14th Liberty League title.

The Violets finished the two-day tournament with a team score of 582 (+14) to secure first place out of seven teams. With the win, NYU earns the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championship.

Wellesley College finished in second place with a team score of 603 (+36). Ithaca College (603) and Union College (670) rounded out the top four teams. St. Lawrence University, Vassar College, and William Smith College also competed at the championship.

NYU dominated the individual leaderboard, with all five golfers finishing inside the top five. With their top-five finish, they each earned a spot on the All-Liberty League First Team.  All-Liberty League accolades are based on individual finish at the championship. The All-League First Team is first through fifth, the All-League Second Team is sixth through tenth, and the All-League Honorable Mention accolades are for 11th through 13th. 

Jiayi Fu led the way at the championship and for the Violets, earning medalist honors. She finished in first place with a two-day total of 145 (+3) after shooting a 74 today. Sonia Hao and Inha Jun tied for second, one stroke behind Fu, at 146 (+4), with Hao carding a 73 in the final round and Jun posting a 74. Noami Tan placed fourth with a 148 (+6)  after shooting a 77 today, and Tiya Chowdary finished fifth with a 149 (+7), carding a 74 in the final round.

The Violets will next compete at the NCAA Division III Championship, scheduled for May 19-22 in Palm Desert, Calif. Tee times are to be announced.
