WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Wellesley College golf concluded its first program appearance at the NCAA Division III Championship in 11th place at the Kingsmill Resort & Spa on Friday. The Blue finished the 72-hole event with a final score of 1212 (+60 - 311-289-303-309).
Emory University won the overall team competition with a 1168 (+16) team score. Carnegie Mellon University (1181, +29) and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (1195, +43) made up the rest of the top three, while George Fox took home fourth place.
Sophomore Aileen Du (Auckland, New Zealand) led the Blue on the final day with a 75 (+3), making three birdies on the front nine. Du's final score of 300 (+12 - 77-70-78-75) put the sophomore in a tie for 23rd place.
Also finishing 12 strokes over par after 72 holes and tying for 23rd was classmate Audrey Wang (Fremont, Calif.). Wang carded a 76 (+4) with four birdies on Friday to finish at 300 strokes (74-74-76-76).
Sophomore Sarah Yeh (Danville, Calif.) shot an 81 (+9) over the final 18 holes of the four-day event, bringing the final tally to 305 strokes (80-70-74-81), good for a tie for 43rd.
First-year Savannah Boyd (Shanghai, China) had a pair of birdies on the back nine to finish the day five strokes above par (77). Boyd's four-day total of 312 (80-80-75-77) placed the first-year in 58th place.
Finally, sophomore Kaurvaki Bajpai (Chantilly, Va.) shot an 81 (+9) on Friday and wrapped up the competition with a score of 316 (81-75-79-81), placing the sophomore in a tie for 66th.
