Pair from Liberty League Field Hockey garner NFHCA All-America accolades

Two Liberty League Field Hockey players were recognized by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) with All-America honors at the conclusion of the 2024 campaign. Union College sophomore forward Maddie Greco and Ithaca College senior defender Bella McCollister were both named to the second team.

Greco, the 2024 Liberty League Offensive Player of the Year and 2023 Liberty League Rookie of the Year, continued her offensive prowess with the Garnet Chargers as she paced the team and league with 20 goals and 44 points. She also handed out four assists and tallied five game-winning goals, good for second in the conference. Greco recorded at least a point in 16-of-20 games and scored a goal in 15-of-20 outings this season. She finished the 2024 season tied for 11th in Division III in goals and 17th in D-III in points; both totals are the most by any Division III first-year or sophomore this season. Greco broke Union’s single season records in goals and points while leading the squad to its first home Liberty League playoff game in program history.

Bella McCollister, Senior, Defender, Ithaca

McCollister, the 2024 and 2023 Liberty League Defensive Player of the Year, played every minute for the Bombers for the third straight year in 2024. She anchored a defensive unit that held opponents to less than a goal per game (.86)the Bombers allowed only 18  goals in 21 games. The Bombers were even stingier against league opponents, holding them to a league-low five goals (.71 per game) for the second straight year. The Bombers allowed 10 or fewer shots in 15-of-21 games this year. Ithaca was the conference’s regular season champions for the third time and posted a pair of 2-0 shutouts in the league tournament en route to the program’s first Liberty League title. McCollister also handed out three assists on the year.
