The No. 2-ranked New York University (NYU) women's golf team sits in third place after 36 holes at the 2026 NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championship at Desert Willow Golf Resort on Wednesday.
The Violets completed round two at +11 overall after shooting +3 as a team on Wednesday, trailing only Emory University (+7) and Carnegie Mellon University (+10). NYU moved up one spot on the team leaderboard during the second round, passing Washington and Lee University to take sole possession of third place entering Thursday's third round.
Jiayi Fu led the way for the Violets and finished the day tied for first individually at three-under par after carding a four-under (68) during Wednesday's second round. Fu climbed 17 spots on the leaderboard after recording four birdies across her round.
Inha Jun is currently tied for 18th overall at two-over par through 36 holes (146) after carding a 75 (+3) during Wednesday's round. Sonia Hao shot a +2 (74) and moved into a tie for 30th overall at five-over through two rounds at 149, while Tiya Chowdary finished the round in a tie for 54th place at eight-over 152. Naomi Tan finished tied for 84th overall at 12-over par (156).
NYU entered the championship after winning the 2026 Liberty League title earlier this month. The Violets also captured team titles this spring at the Jekyll Island Invitational, the Stith Invitational, and the Jack Leaman Invitational heading into NCAA Championship play.
The championship field began with 34 teams and six individuals competing over 72 holes. Following Wednesday's second round, the field was cut to the top 15 teams and the top six individuals not on advancing teams. NYU comfortably secured its spot for the final two rounds of competition.
Round three of the NCAA Championship will begin Thursday morning in Palm Desert.
