Vassar WBB heads to St. Lawrence For First Round of Liberty League Championship

Brewers, Saints split regular season series

Poughkeepsie, N.Y. – The Vassar College Women's Basketball team, the No. 5 seed, opens the 2026 Liberty League Championship Tuesday evening with a visit to fourth-seeded St. Lawrence. Tip-off in the North Country is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. with Live Stats and Video available for those unable to attend.

  • Vassar enters the Liberty League Championship at 12-13 overall and earned the fifth seed after posting an 11-7 record in Liberty League play.

Scouting The Saints
  • St. Lawrence enters Tuesday's First Round matchup with a 16-9 overall record and claimed the fourth seed in the championship bracket, by tiebreaker, with an 11-7 record against league rivals.
  • Jackie Malley leads a trio of Saints scoring in double-figures with 13.9 points per night and is tops on the team with 74 three-pointers made and a 40.4-percent conversion rate from long distance.
  • Elizabeth Flynn checks in with 11.5 points and Annie Perry is good for just shy of 11 points per night.
  • Flynn leads St. Lawrence on the glass and is hauling in 9.5 rebounds per contest.
  • St. Lawrence is scoring just over 63 points per game as a team, ranking second in the conference in scoring.
  • The Saints defense gives up 60 points per game, sitting sixth in the league in defense.

Regular Season Series
  • Both teams won on their home floor with Vassar scoring a 70-58 victory on January 10 before the Saints earned a 68-59 victory in Canton on January 30.

Recent History vs. St. Lawrence
  • The Saint's victory in the last meeting stopped a seven-game winning streak in the series for Vassar and gave St. Lawrence its first victory over the Brewers since an 80-63 win in the Liberty League Championship Semifinal Round on February 26, 2022.
  • Since the start of the 1999-00 season, Vassar is 24-33 against St. Lawrence.
  • The Saints won 16 straight contests in the series from January 18, 2002-February 20, 2009.
  • Tuesday's matchup will be the first meeting in the conference championship since the 2022 meeting and the fourth since 2018.
