The 2026 Liberty League Men's and Women's Squash Championships will take place this weekend, with St. Lawrence University hosting the two-day tournament at the Robie Squash Center, Saturday-Sunday, Feb. 14-15, in Canton, N.Y.

The Liberty League men's championship features seven teams in a seeded tournament bracket. The top seed receives a bye. Quarterfinal and semifinal matches will be played on Saturday, followed by the championship round matches (1st, 3rd, 5th) on Sunday.
The women's championship consists of six teams divided into two 3-team pools. Each team will play the other two teams in its pool on Saturday, with championship round matches (1st, 3rd, 5th) to be played on Sunday.
DIRECTIONS TO ST. LAWRENCE UNIVERSITY: The Robie Squash Center is housed in the Augsbury Physical Education Center at St. Lawrence University, which is located on Park Street in Canton. From the East or West: Take Route 11 (Main Street) to the village of Canton, turn onto Park Street, and make a right after Augsbury Physical Education Center.

2025 CHAMPIONSHIP RECAPS...
WOMEN: Trailing 4-2 after six matches, St. Lawrence University rallied for a 5-4 victory over Denison University to capture the Liberty League Women's Squash Championship. The tournament championship was the Saints' first since the 2021-22 season, fifth overall, and fourth since 2017-18.
The tournament's Most Outstanding Performer, Angel Otshabeng, earned the clinching victory, defeating Denison's Antoinette Ramsey, 11-6, 11-9, 11-7 at the number-one position. In the early going, St. Lawrence earned a pair of wins at the two and five spots. At two, Madeleine Martin defeated Helena Fournaris, 3-1. In the five-spot, Laura Franz earned a 12-10, 11-4, 13-11 victory.
Denison battled to a 4-2 lead, and the match was teetering in the number-three match, where St. Lawrence's Meg Pruett and Denison's Amelia Keng battled to a fifth game. Pruitt took the deciding fifth game, 11-7, to keep the Saints' hopes alive.
First-year Mariam Dodd occupied the fourth spot in the lineup and took an 11-3, 11-2, 11-8 (3-0) sweep against Esme Adelman to tie the match up at four before Otshabeng clinched the title with the decisive victory.
MEN: The University of Rochester earned its sixth straight and 12th overall Liberty League title following an 8-1 win over St. Lawrence University. Rochester's stretch of six consecutive titles is the second such streak in school history, matching the Yellowjackets' run from 2008 through 2013. Rochester and St. Lawrence have combined to win the last 19 Liberty League titles.
Rochester raced out to a 6-0 lead after the opening two waves, with four of those wins being 3-0 sweeps. Nic Gill defeated Athrva Yadav at number eight, winning 11-8, 11-2, 11-7 for the opening point of the match. At two, Omar Zakaria won in four games, 11-7, 11-8, 9-11, 11-3 over Patrick Walford, with Jake Koeppel making it 3-0 Yellowjackets with an 11-8, 15-13, 11-5 win over Miguel Posada Villa in the six slot.
To open the second wave, Van Inman-Benavente rallied after dropping the opening game to win 9-11, 11-6, 11-6, and 11-4 (3-1) at seven against Harry Robson to put Rochester within one point of securing the title. The clinching point was earned by Dhirren Rajarathinam, who won 11-7, 11-3, 11-6 at number three against Oliver Bikhazi-Green.
St. Lawrence's lone point of the match was at the number one, with Grégory Malsang defeating Rochester's Yash Fadte. Fadte earned an 11-8 win in the opening set before Malsang took the second and third 14-12 and 11-3 before Fadte was forced to retire from the match. Malsang was recognized as the tournament's Most Outstanding Player.
A look at the WOMEN'S TEAMS...
Bard Raptors (9-3):
- CSA National Ranking: 30th
- Bard is in the midst of one of its most successful seasons with a 9-3 record through 12 matches. The Raptors have also won five matches by 5-4 scores.
- The Raptors have faced league rival Vassar twice in the opening weeks of the season and won both matches, 5-4, in Poughkeepsie.
- Bard is young at the top of the lineup as first-year Catherine Chapel plays at number-one, followed by sophomores Tarana Downer and Nioby Rodriguez at two and three, respectively.
Denison Big Red (8-3):
- CSA National Ranking: 21st
- Denison joined the Liberty League as a squash member in 2023 and will be one of the top contenders for the championship this year. The Big Red trail only St. Lawrence (No. 20) in the latest CSA poll.
- Denison has wins over three league opponents during the regular season, defeating Vassar, William Smith, and Haverford without dropping an individual match.
- The Big Red roster consists of just one junior and two seniors. The youthful squad includes one first-year player and six sophomores. The top three players - Charlotte Jones, Amelia Keng, and Helena Fournaris - are all sophomores. Jones, one of the league's top-rated players, was selected as the Liberty League Player of the Year last year.
Haverford Fords (4-9):
- CSA National Ranking: 27th
- Haverford has played five matches against Liberty League teams this season, going 3-2. The Fords have wins over William Smith and Vassar (twice).
- The Haverford roster consists of just one senior (Amy Saxon) among the 14 players. Saxon, Madeline Bulbulia, and Sarah Kotapka lead the team with five wins apiece.
- Juniors Joelle Phuah and Zoe Liu, along with sophomore Julia Carrasco, have occupied the top three spots respectively on the Fords' ladder.
St. Lawrence Saints (8-4):
- CSA National Ranking: 20th
- Since the Liberty League women's squash championship was restarted in 2017-18, St. Lawrence has won four of the six titles, and five overall in the 14 years in which it has been contested.
- St. Lawrence enters the tournament as the Liberty League's top-ranked team (20th) in the CSA rankings. The Saints opened their season with four straight wins, including 9-0 victories over Vassar and Haverford.
- Sophomore Angel Otshabeng, who plays in the number-one position for the Saints, was the Liberty League Rookie of the Year last season. Eboni Atherley, who plays at number two, is one of the league's top first-year players.
Vassar Brewers (4-14):
- CSA National Ranking: 31st
- Vassar has a new head coach this season in Nku Patrick, a former CSA National Champion at Trinity College. Patrick most recently coached Northeastern's club teams from 2020-25.
- The Brewers compiled a four-match winning streak earlier in the season, defeating Fordham, Wellesley, Mount Holyoke, and Smith.
- Sophomore Charlotte Tobin plays number one for Vassar, while senior Adriana Ordaya, who plays number three, leads the team with nine wins.
William Smith Herons (1-12):
- CSA National Ranking: 28th
- William Smith has won five Liberty League titles, tied with St. Lawrence for the most in league history.
- The Herons split with league foes Vassar (won, 7-2) and Haverford (lost, 3-6) two weeks ago at a tri-match at Haverford.
- Senior Jada Padmore-Smith is the team's top player, currently occupying the number-one position on the William Smith ladder.
A look at the MEN'S TEAMS…
Bard Raptors (1-9):
- CSA National Ranking: 34th
- Bard earned an 8-0 victory over Siena two weeks ago, avenging a loss from earlier in the season.
- Sophomore Miguel Rodriguez Robles is the Raptors' top player, having earned four wins at the number-one position.
- The Bard roster consists of just one senior, Joas Erasmus, who competes in the number-two spot.
Denison Big Red (6-5):
- CSA National Ranking: 27th
- Ranked second among Liberty League teams in the CSA rankings, Denison has gone 2-1 against league foes with wins over Hobart and Vassar and a loss to Rochester.
- Senior Juan Felipe Hernandez, who competes at the top of the ladder for the Big Red, is currently 8-2 on the season, including a win against Rochester.
- Junior Charlie Fenwick and sophomore Alex DeLuca, who also play at the top of the Denison lineup, have six wins apiece.
Haverford Fords (4-10):
- CSA National Ranking: 30th
- Haverford has faced five Liberty League foes this season, going 4-1. The Fords have beaten St. Lawrence, Vassar (twice), and Hobart while falling to Denison, 6-3.
- Aaryaman Jaising, one of just two seniors on the Haverford roster, is the Fords' top player.
- Junior Francis Butkowski and first-year Dean Ibrahim lead Haverford with 10 wins apiece.
Hobart Statesmen (0-15):
- CSA National Ranking: 33rd
- A young Hobart roster features first-year players at the top of the ladder in Adam Le and Caio Paiva.
- Paiva and senior Javier De La Vega lead the Statesmen with three wins apiece in the second and third positions, respectively.
Rochester Yellowjackets (4-5):
- CSA National Ranking: 21st
- Rochester is currently the Liberty League's top-ranked team at 21st in the most recent CSA rankings. The Yellowjackets have won 11 Liberty League championships all-time, including six straight.
- After losing seven seniors from last year's team that captured the Liberty League title, Rochester is a much younger team this season, with just one graduate student and no seniors.
- First-year player Gilberto Aceves Moreno sits atop the Yellowjackets ladder and has recorded four wins in his nine matches. Junior Dhirren Rajarathinam and sophomore Thomas Valderrama lead the team in wins with seven apiece while playing two and three, respectively.
St. Lawrence Saints (3-9):
- CSA National Ranking: 29th
- St. Lawrence has won seven Liberty League men's squash championships all-time – second-most behind Rochester – including five straight from 2014 to 2018.
- The Saints have faced two Liberty League teams this season, splitting a tri-match with Vassar (won, 7-2) and Haverford (lost, 4-5) in November in Poughkeepsie.
- First-year player Mina Wasseem and sophomore Miguel Posada Villa are the team's top two players, holding down the number-one and number-two spots, respectively. Senior Patrick Walford leads the Saints with eight wins from the number-four position.
Vassar Brewers (3-12):
- CSA National Ranking: 32nd
