Rochester's Wesley named named Region II Men's Golf Coach of the Year for 2024-25

Following a strong season by the University of Rochester golf team, head coach Dan Wesley was recognized on Tuesday as the Division III Region II Coach of the Year, presented by Golf Pride Grips and announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).

Wesley earns his second straight and fourth overall Region Coach of the Year honor, previously earning the award in 2012, 2014 and 2024. Earlier this spring, the Rochester alum and current Yellowjackets coach was named Liberty League Coaching Staff of the Year and a finalist for the Division III Coach of the Year.

In 2024-25, the Yellowjackets captured their second straight Liberty League title, winning by 17 strokes over the runner-up team, one of five top-3 finishes across ten team events. Rochester added a runner-up finish at the UAA match play championship and ended the season on a high note, ranking tied for 11th at the NCAA Division III Championships. That result was Rochester's best finish at nationals since the 1994 season.

The Region Coach of the Year award for Wesley is well deserved, considering much of Rochester's lineup was turned over anew this season. All five of Rochester's starting lineup at NCAA's were either first-years or sophomores, and only one is a returning golfer from last season's NCAA team.

Rochester had five All-Liberty League honorees and two All-UAA representatives, with five golfers also earning All-Region recognition. The Yellowjackets were the top-ranked Region II team all season long and ended the year ranked in the top-25 in Division III, sitting 24th in the Scoreboard/Clippd rankings.

Statistically, the Yellowjackets averaged 292.94 strokes per round as a team, smashing the school record in that category by eight shots. Rochester had a 109-62-4 win-loss record in 2024-25 and eight rounds below 290 overall, all of which are among the top-20 best rounds in team history. Rochester's 1199 total score at the NCAA Championships was a program-best, and the Yellowjackets' Liberty League results broke the conference championship record with a 9-under par team tournament score.
