Trio of Liberty League Men’s Golfers garner Division III PING All-America accolades

Three Liberty League Men’s Golfers have been named to the 2025 Division III PING All-America teams as announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). 50 Division III men’s golfers were recognized following the 2025 season among the first team, second team, and honorable mention. All three Liberty League honorees—RPI graduate student Matt Buckley, University of Rochester first-year Alvin Su and Rochester sophomore Shibo Wang earned honorable mention recognition.

Buckley closed out his career with RPI by leading the team in scoring average (73.24) over 19 rounds this season, where he recorded seven top-15 finishes in 10 tournaments. His season was highlighted by a pair of runner-up; he was second at Bucknell’s The Gauntlet and Farmingdale State’s Glen Oaks Invitational. At Bucknell, he totaled a score of 137 (68-69) and at Glen Oaks, he recorded a score of 71. He finished the 2025 campaign at the Liberty League Championship, where he tied for 14th in the 2.5 round event (186—64-39-71). He finished the year ranked third in the Region II rankings and 96th in Division III.

Su concluded his rookie campaign as Rochester’s top golfer, setting a program-record in scoring average of 72.81 strokes per round across 23.5 rounds. He ended the year ranked a league-best 74th in Division III and was the top golfer in Region II. He tied for third at the Liberty League Championship with a total of 178 (2.5 rounds; 71-35-72) and placed among the top-five at Rochester’s Fred Kravetz Invitational (T-4th; 144). Su wrapped up his rookie season with a team-best tie for 20th at the NCAA Division III Championship with a total score of 295.

Wang, the 2025 Liberty League Player of the Year, posted a 73.40 scoring average during the 2024-25 campaign. His season was highlighted by earning medalist honors at the Farmingdale Spring Invite, where he carded an under-par total of 139 (70-69) for the 36-hole event. He also finished 10th among 120 golfers at the Golfweek October Classic with a three-round total of 208 (69-70-69). Wang was a team-best 22nd at the Jekyll Island Invitational in March, shooting 217 in three rounds (75-69-73). At the Liberty League Championship, he recorded a score of 185 (74-35-76) in two and a half rounds, tying for 12th overall. He finished in a tie for 40th at the NCAA Division III Championship, carding a score of 300 in the 72-hole event. Wang totaled eight rounds at or below par this year and finished second among Region II golfers (90th overall) in the final Scoreboard/Clipped individual rankings.
