Liberty League reveals 2024-25 Women's Rowing Awards

Following a vote by the conference's head coaches, the Liberty League has announced its major award recipients for Women's Rowing for the 2024-25 season.

CREW OF THE YEAR: Varsity Eight, Ithaca College

The Ithaca College Varsity Eight was selected as the 2024-25 Liberty League Women’s Rowing Crew of the Year. The Bombers claimed their seventh straight Liberty League Women’s Rowing title with a win in the V8+ race at the 2025 championship. Despite a slow start, Ithaca stormed back in the second half of the race to take first with a time of 7:28.011 along with a margin of victory of 4.6 seconds. With the conference’s automatic qualifier, they competed at the NCAA Championships, which took place May 30 & 31 in West Windsor, N.J. Ithaca opened NCAAs third in their heat with a time of 6:58.296. In the repechage, the V8+ was first among four boats at 7:00.496 and earned a spot in the Grand Final. The Bombers placed fifth in the V8+ Grand Final, crossing the finish line in 6:44.628 only 6.942 seconds behind the winning boat. Ithaca’s V8+ was fourth at the New York State Championships, clocking a time of 7:08.264 and they were fifth at the National Invitational Rowing Championship (NIRC) with a time of 6:40.265. The Ithaca V8+ lineup consisted of Caroline Hoskins, Lily Babcock, Emma Hammel, Maggie Farber, Zoe Paradis Stern, Kai Lincke, Ashley Bailey, Samantha Gallagher and Beth Roberts this season.

COACHING STAFF OF THE YEAR: Ithaca College – Beth Greene, Head Coach; Assistant Coaches Gregg Seiz and Tara Masters

Ithaca College head coach Beth Greene as well as assistant coaches Gregg Seiz and Tara Masters were named the Liberty League Coaching Staff of the Year. At the 2025 Liberty League Championship, the Bombers captured their seventh straight Liberty League women’s rowing title. They were triumphant in two of four races at the championship—Varsity Eight (7:28.011), and Varsity Four (9:21.015) while finishing as the runner-up in the Second Varsity Eight (7:56.870), and Novice Four (9:38.282). With the V8+ win at the conference championship, Ithaca was the league’s automatic qualifier at the NCAA Championship. Both V8+ and 2V8+ boats earned a spot in the Grand Final where the V8+ finished fifth (6:44.628) and 2V8+ was sixth (7:08.735). At this year’s New York State Championships, Ithaca’s V8+ was fourth with a time of 7:08.264 and the 2V8+ was sixth at 7:34.347. The Bombers also took part in the National Invitational Rowing Championships (NIRC) this season, where both the 2V8+ and V4+ (8:20.499) finished fourth in their respective races and the V8+ was fifth (6:40.265).

 

All-Liberty League honorees were selected by their coach with the number of honorees from each school based on Varsity 8+ place finish at this year's championship in May.
