Following a vote by the league's head coaches, the Liberty League announced its 2024-25 Women's Tennis Major Awards and All-League teams.
PLAYER OF THE YEAR: Konika Dhull, Senior, Skidmore College
Skidmore College senior Konika Dhull was selected as the Liberty League Player of the Year, and she is the first Thoroughbred since 2021-22 to earn the honors. She holds an 18-9 overall record (12-7 dual matches), including a perfect 8-0 mark at number one against league opponents. She also teamed up with Grace Truong at number one doubles, where the pair went 19-11 overall (11-8 dual matches) and 6-1 in league play. During the fall, they won the ITA Northeast Regional doubles title, earned All-America honors, and competed in the ITA Cup. In the latest NCAA regional rankings, Dhull and Truong are the top doubles team in Region II and Dhull is ranked second in singles. Dhull will compete in the NCAA Division III Championship in both singles and doubles competition from May 24-27 in Claremont, Calif.
ROOKIE OF THE YEAR: Gauri Muliyil, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute
For the second time since 2022-23, an RPI Women’s Tennis player has been recognized with Liberty League Rookie of the Year accolades. Gauri Muliyil is the 2024-25 recipient following a strong first-year campaign with the Engineers. She compiled a 17-8 overall record and a 12-4 mark in dual matches (7-1 Liberty League), where she split time between number two and number three singles. At number two, she was unbeaten at 6-0 and from number three, she went 6-4. Muliyil advanced to the third round of the ITA Northeast Regional in the fall. In doubles action, she and teammate Taylor Chandler played at number two and three, finishing the year at 7-7 overall, including a 7-0 record in league play. Muliyil helped RPI earn the third seed in the Liberty League tournament, where the Engineers advanced to the semifinals
COACHING STAFF OF THE YEAR: Vassar College – Marty Perry, Head Coach; Assistant Coach Sara Steinberg
Vassar College head coach Marty Perry and assistant coach Sara Steinberg were named the Liberty League Coaching Staff of the Year following the 2024-25 season. They directed the Brewers to a 15-6 overall record and a 7-1 mark in league play. Vassar was the second seed in the Liberty League Championship and posted victories against RPI in the semifinals and Skidmore in the title match en route to the team’s first conference title since 2010. The Brewers earned a trip to the NCAA Division III Championship for the first time since 2012 and advanced to the second round. They closed out the 2024-25 campaign with seven wins in their last eight matches of the season and ranked 22nd in Division III.
