Following a vote by the league's head coaches, the Liberty League announced its 2025-26 Women's Tennis major awards and All-League teams.
PLAYER & ROOKIE OF THE YEAR: Ginevra Muratori, First-Year, Skidmore College
Skidmore College first-year Ginevra Muratori was selected as the Liberty League Player and Rookie of the Year. It is the first time since 2022-23 that a player has swept the Liberty League’s major awards (Nicole Ridenour, RPI), and the third time since 2016-17 that a Skidmore first-year has earned both honors (Risa Fukushige - 2017-18; Ada Wiggins - 2016-17). Muratori made an immediate impact in her first collegiate season, winning the ITA Northeast Regional singles title in the fall and earning runner-up honors in the doubles tournament with classmate Amelie Gonzalez. Muratori advanced to the ITA Cup in both singles and doubles, earning All-America accolades. She quickly earned the top spot in the Thoroughbred lineup in dual match play and was a perfect 7-0 against conference opponents. Overall, she went 21-9 in singles, including a 14-4 mark at No. 1 singles in dual matches. Muratori and Gonzalez teamed up at No. 1 doubles for the Thoroughbreds, compiling an 18-11 overall record and an 11-6 mark in dual matches. In league matches, they were unbeaten at 6-0. Muratori was selected to participate in the NCAA Division III singles championship as well as the doubles championship with Gonzalez. Muratori is the top-ranked singles player and is also part of the top-ranked doubles team in NCAA Region II.
COACHING STAFF OF THE YEAR: Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute
RPI head coach Justin Roe and assistant coach Loretta Donovan were recognized as the Liberty League Coaching Staff of the Year following the 2025-26 campaign. They guided the Engineers to an overall record of 13-7 and a 7-1 mark against league opponents. RPI earned the second seed in the conference tournament and claimed its first Liberty League title with wins over St. Lawrence in the semifinals (4-2 W) and defending champion Vassar in the championship match (4-3 W). With the 2026 Liberty League title, the Engineers were the conference’s automatic qualifier to NCAAs and made the program’s first appearance in the NCAA Tournament, advancing to the second round. RPI closed out the season with six wins in its last seven matches and finished the year ranked third in Region II.
