Greenwood, Ind. – Vassar College Senior Women's Basketball standout Tova Gelb has added another postseason honor to an impressive resume with a Third Team College Sports Communicators Academic All-American citation. Gelb becomes just the second such honoree in program history.
Gelb, a Biology major and member of the Liberty League All-Academic Team, joins Sophie Nick as the only other Academic All-American honoree from the College Sports Communicators. Nick was made a Second Team selection following the 2019-20 season. Gelb is just one of 15 Division III women's basketball student-athletes honored with the prestigious Academic All-American honor in 2024-25.
Gelb had a standout season for the Brewers that results in Liberty League Player and Defensive Player of the Year honors along with D3hoops.com Region III Player of the Year, WBCA All-American, D3hoops.com All-American and First Team All-Met citations.
Gelb closed the season leading the team and the Liberty League in scoring (18.3), rebounding (10.4) and steals (2.7). Gelb converted at 47.8-percent from the field overall and was good for 2.9 assists and just over one block per game.
Gelb poured in a single game program record 36 points for the Brewers in an 85-76 overtime victory against RIT on January 18, a game in which she scored her 1,000th career point.
Vassar concluded the 2024-25 season with a 21-7 overall record and won the program's second straight Liberty League title.
