St. Lawrence Women's Squash claims 2025 Liberty League title

The St. Lawrence University women's squash team found themselves down 4-2 through six matches but the Saints orchestrated a huge comeback as they defeated Denison University in the Liberty League Championship match on Sunday afternoon in the Robie Squash Center.

The tournament championship win is the fifth all-time for the Saints and it's their fourth since 2017-18. St. Lawrence last won the Liberty League Championship in the 2021-22 season.

This year's Most Outstanding Performer honors were awarded to St. Lawrence's Angel Otshabeng. She won the Championship-clinching match 3-0 at number one to complete the comeback.

In the early going, the Scarlet and Brown earned a pair of wins in the number two and five spots. At two, Madeleine Martin took on Helena Fournaris. After dropping the first game, she went on to win the next three 11-9, 11-6, 11-5 for the 3-1 win. In the five spot, Laura Franz was tasked with Tess Lanza and took the 12-10, 11-4, 13-11 (3-0) victory.

Denison claimed a 4-2 lead, and the match was teetering in the number three match where Meg Pruett and Amelia Keng battled to a fifth game. The senior came up clutch for St. Lawrence taking the final game 11-7 to keep the Saints hopes alive.

First-year Mariam Dodd occupied the fourth spot in the lineup and took an 11-3, 11-2, 11-8 (3-0) sweep against Esme Adelman to tie the match up at four.

The Championship hinged on the number-one match where Otshabeng took on Antoinette Ramey. The first-year took 11-6, 11-9, and 11-7 wins to clinch the Saints' title and earn Most Outstanding Performer honors.
