SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The senior pair of Konika Dhull and Grace Truong from the Skidmore College women's tennis team defeated Victoria Wang and Siona Vallabhaneni of New York University (NYU) in straight sets to claim the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Northeast Regional Championship on Monday afternoon at the outdoor courts at the McCaffery-Wagman Tennis and Wellness Center.
- Dhull and Truong are now automatic All-Americans. They are the first Skidmore doubles pair since 2018 to earn All-America honors. They are also the 12th and 13th players in program history to garner the distinction.
- By reaching the title match, both finalist duos qualified for the ITA Cup in Rome, Georgia Oct. 10-13.
- Dhull and Truong won a 7-4 tiebreaker in the first set to take a one set to love lead.
- In the second, the Thoroughbred pair battled back from an early break, got one of their own to knot it up, and secured the victory in straight sets with a final break on their second match point.
- Dhull and Truong went a perfect 5-0 together for the tournament, with wins over teams from Union, The Colege of New Jersey (TCNJ), Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), and NYU.
SINGLES
- In the morning round, Dhull fell to Wang in the semifinals 6-1, 6-4.
- In the other (all-NYU) singles semifinal, Jimena Menendez defeated teammate Isabella Hartman 7-6(8-6), 6-1.
- Menendez then won the singles title over another teammate in Wang 6-3, 6-4.

While Dhull and Truong head to the ITA Cup, the team is scheduled to compete in the Middlebury Panther Challenge Oct. 11-13.
