Hobart College junior forward Carter Meshanic was named to the D3hoops.com Team of the Week after leading the Statesmen to a pair of conference road wins last week. He averaged 23.5 points and 6.5 rebounds in wins at Union and Vassar.
Against the Garnet Chargers, Meshanic netted a game and season-high 25 points, shared game-high honors with eight rebounds, made a game-high three steals and handed out two assists. Hobart rallied from an 11-point first half deficit to beat Union 81-66.
The following afternoon, Meshanic posted a game-high 22 points, five rebounds and two blocked shots against the Brewers. This time, Hobart overcame a 10-point first half deficit to earn a 69-58 victory.
For the week, he was 19-of-26 shooting (.731) from the field and went 9-of-11 at the free throw line.
Meshanic has started all six games this season. He's averaging 16.3 points, 8.7 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 1.3 assists and 1.0 blocked shots. Meshanic is shooting .563 from the floor and .703 at the line.
Hobart is one of 25 undefeated teams in Division III men's basketball. The Statesmen's 6-0 record has equaled the program's best start to a season (2011-12).
Meshanic is the first Statesman named to the D3hoops.com Team of the Week since his brother, Jackson '23, earned the honors twice last season.
