Three Liberty League winter sport teams are moving on to 2021-22 NCAA Championship tournaments—Ithaca College (women’s basketball), Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI; men’s basketball) and Vassar College (men’s basketball).
For men’s basketball, Vassar secured its first NCAA tournament appearance in program history by winning its first-ever Liberty League title. The Brewers received the conference’s automatic bid, while Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), the Liberty League regular season champions, were one of 20 recipients of at-large bids. Vassar will travel to Worcester, Mass. to take on host Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) and RPI heads south to Wesleyan (Conn.) to play Nichols College in the first round.
On the women’s side, Ithaca College will be the league’s lone representative as the Bombers won its third straight conference title for the automatic berth. The Bombers will be hosting first- and second- round games on March 4th and 5th.
