Liberty League announces 2021 Field Hockey Awards

LIBERTY LEAGUE OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR: Amanda Strenk, Senior, Forward, University of Rochester
 
University of Rochester senior forward Amanda Strenk was recognized as the Liberty League Offensive Player of the Year. She finished the 2021 season as the league leader in points with 48 while also pacing the conference in goals (23), game-winning goals (6), shot attempts (110) and shots on goal (73). Nationally, she is ranked ninth in goals per game (1.21) and 17th in points per game (2.53). Strenk had six multi-goal games this season and the two-time Liberty League Offensive Performer of the Week selection, tied the Rochester single-season record for goals and set a new program record for penalty stroke goals with six.
 
LIBERTY LEAGUE DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR: Brianna Duba, Junior, Defense, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute
 
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute junior midfielder Brianna Duba was named the Liberty League Defensive Player of the Year. Duba started all 17 games for the Engineers and spearheaded the defense, that held opponents to 1.35 goals per game and 10.4 shots per game. RPI recorded six shutouts on the year, which ranked the team third among league leaders. Duba also helped out on the offensive side as the team leader in points (22). She scored seven goals and dished out a team-high eight assists.
 
LIBERTY LEAGUE ROOKIE OF THE YEAR: Hailey Brigger, First Year, Forward, Vassar College
 
Vassar College first-year Hailey Brigger was selected as the Liberty League Rookie of the Year. Brigger made an immediate impact in her first season with the Brewers. She is the team’s top scorer with nine goals and nine assists for 27 points. A four-time Liberty League Rookie of the Week pick, Brigger leads the league in assists and assists per game (.474) and ranks fifth in points per game (1.42). She is also among league leaders in goals per game (5th, .474) and game-winning goals (T-2nd, 6). Through two games of the 2021 Liberty League tournament, she netted two goals, including the overtime game-winner in the championship game en route to Vassar claiming its second league title in program history.
 
LIBERTY LEAGUE COACHING STAFF OF THE YEAR: Ithaca College – Kaitlyn Wahila, Head Coach; Assistant Coach Mo Ordnung
 
Ithaca College head coach Kaitlyn Wahila and assistant coach Mo Ordnung were named the Liberty League Coaching Staff of the Year. Wahila directed the Bombers to an overall record of 14-5 and a 6-1 mark in conference play this season. Ithaca earned the top seed of the 2021 Liberty League Championship and advanced to the title game for the first time since joining the Liberty League in 2017-18. Ithaca was second in the league in scoring with 31 goals and 18 assists (80 points) and they held opponents to a .89 goals against average (17 goals allowed).
