ITHACA, N.Y. – The #27 Vassar College Men's Tennis team advanced to its second Liberty League Championship Final in the last three seasons Saturday morning with a 4-1 semifinal victory over #60 Union. Junior Eugene Lee (Chico, CA) clinched the victory with a hard fought first singles victory.
Saturday's win, Vassar's 11th straight, improves it to 16-5 overall and gives it 32 straight victories against Union. The Garnet Chargers close the season at 11-10.
Doubles
- Vassar claimed the doubles point and opened a 1-0 lead with victories at the first and second positions.
- The Brewers' top pair of Fernando Bauermeister (Winter Park, FL) and Nolan Kubiak (Oregon, WI) won for the 11th time this spring with a 6-1 victory.
- Pedro Cattaruzzi (Chatham, NJ) and Junchen Jia (Vail, AZ) clinched the point on Saturday and won their eighth straight decision after cruising to a 6-0 win at the second position.
Singles
- After Union evened the match at 1-1 with a second singles victory, Vassar grabbed a 2-1 lead in the match after First Year Shrey Choudhary (Farmington, CT) posted a 6-3, 6-1 sixth singles victory.
- Vassar expanded its lead to 3-1 with Kubiak's ninth singles victory of the spring, a 6-4, 6-2 triumph at the third position.
- Lee sent Vassar to Sunday's championship final with his team leading 13th victory of the spring. Lee improved to 13-4 after outlasting Union's Solen Bellemare 6-1, 3-6, 6-3 at the top flight.

- Vassar will play for the conference championship Sunday morning against the winner of the Skidmore and Ithaca semifinal.
