Liberty League announces weekly award winners for May 18

The Liberty League announced that nine student-athletes in three different sports have been recognized for their outstanding performances during the week of May 12 - May 17. Hobart College junior first baseman Sean Garvin, the Performer of the Week in baseball, led the Statesmen in their first appearance in the NCAA Tournament since 1992 and the program's first NCAA tournament victories. Garvin earned a spot on the Salisbury Regional All-Tournament team after hitting .421 in four games against nationally-ranked teams. He had eight hits over the weekend, including five for extra bases (2 2B, 1 3B, 2 HR). Garvin produced an RBI double in his first NCAA tournament at-bat, opening the scoring in Hobart's 4-1 win over No. 14 Mount Union on Friday. Against No. 8 Salisbury on Saturday, he delivered a two-RBI single. Later that day, he went 3-for-4 with a triple and two home runs, driving in four and scoring twice as the Statesmen beat the Purple Raiders 10-1. On Sunday, he was 3-for-6 in a 12-inning loss to the Sea Gulls.
