Ithaca's Ethan Fantel selected as Fifth Team All-American by D3baseball.com

ITHACA, N.Y. – D3baseball.com released its 19th All-American Teams for the 2026 season on May 28 and Ithaca College sophomore Ethan Fantel represented the Bombers on the Fifth Team as a first baseman.

Fantel becomes the 40th All-American (42nd overall) in program history and the first for Ithaca since 2023, and just the third first baseman to achieve this distinguished honor.

In 35 games this season, Fantel batted .444 with 58 RBI, 35 walks, 34 runs scored, 14 doubles and seven home runs. He began the season on a 17-game hitting streak and finished the season hitting safely in 11 of the final 12 games. Fantel also reached base in all 35 games to conclude the season with a .584 on-base percentage.

The 2026 Liberty League Player of the Year, Fantel  finished the season among the league's leaders in home runs (T-2nd), hits (4th), doubles (T-6th), and hit by pitch (10th, 11). He closed out the year ranked among Division III’s top 20 in on-base percentage (4th), RBI per game (1.66, 7th), walks per game (1.00, 15th), and batting average (20th).

Fentel ranks fifth on Ithaca's single season list for RBI and is the only player in the top 10 to drive in more than 50 runs in 40 games or fewer. His .444 average sits fifth on the single season list, while his .413 career average through two seasons is tops in program history.
