After a thrilling come-from-behind victory at the Liberty League Men's Golf Championship a couple of weeks ago, the University of Rochester golf team is set to compete at the 2026 NCAA Division III Championship this week in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida.
The host resort for this year's national tournament is the Mission Inn Resort, with two courses being utilized for the 72-hole championship. El Campeon is the main course being utilized for the event, with the Las Colinas course at Mission Inn also being one of the tracks used for the first and second rounds.
The tournament runs May 12 through May 15 and features 43 total teams in the field and ten other top-ranked individuals from non-qualifying teams, for a total of 225 golfers in the field. 34 teams, including Rochester, earned automatic berths into the tournament, with nine other institutions being at-large selections into the field.
Following 36 holes of competition, the team field will be cut to the top-18 teams and top-6 individuals not on one of those teams.
Rochester's NCAA appearance in 2026 is the 26th all-time for the team, with the Yellowjackets being represented at nationals a total of 32 times overall (including individual golfer appearances). This season will also be the Yellowjackets third straight tournament appearance. They finished tied for 11th in 2025 and placed 28th in 2024.
The Yellowjackets claimed the Liberty League title at the Turning Stone Resort in late April, rallying from 11-strokes down to begin the final day, earning a six-stroke victory. Rochester posted a school-record team round of 15-under 273 on the final day to top NYU and six other schools for the conference title, scoring a team total of 857 for the overall tournament.
The Yellowjacket lineup at nationals will feature sophomore Alvin Su, junior Arjun Aujla, first-year Anderson Palm, sophomore Galen Fowles and senior Josh Pethel. Both Su and Aujla will be competing at NCAAs for the second-straight year. This season, Rochester is currently averaging 293.3 strokes per round, ranking a close second in school history, behind the 292.9 average, set last season in 2024-25.
The Yellowjackets have been ranked among the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) Division III's top 25 all season long, peaking at No. 12 back in the fall. They are currently ranked 18th in the latest GCAA poll. According to the Scoreboard/Clippd rankings, the Yellowjackets are 19th nationally and have been the top-ranked team in Region II all-season long.
