2026 Liberty League Rowing Championship Results
SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The Ithaca College men’s rowing team won its third consecutive Liberty League Men’s Rowing title with a victory of just over eight seconds in the Varsity Eight race over runner-up Skidmore on Friday morning at Saratoga Lake’s Fish Creek.
The Liberty League team champion in men's rowing is determined by a first-place finish in the Varsity Eight race. The Bombers swept both Varsity Eight and Second Varsity Eight events, and they also earned gold in the men’s Open Four.
With a win in the V8+, Ithaca also earned a spot in the Division III race at the Intercollegiate Rowing Association’s National Championship. This year’s IRA regatta is from May 29-May 31 at Lake Natoma in Gold River, California.
In the third race of the day among five boats, Ithaca quickly established control, pulling away early as the Bombers clocked the best time of the day at 6:23.50. Conditions were favorable with all five boats in the V8+ finishing under the seven minute mark. Skidmore was the runner-up for the second straight year, crossing the finish line in 6:31.957. Union (6:38.340) was third and the Garnet Chargers were followed by St. Lawrence (6:45.129) and RIT (6:48.829).
The Men’s 2V8+ immediately followed the V8+ and Ithaca cruised to victory in the five-boat race, crossing the finish line in 6:41.980, 10.461 seconds ahead, of the rest of the field. Skidmore was second, recording a time of 6:52.441. Union A (7:07.822), RIT (7:13.539), and Union B (7:17.993) finished third, fourth and fifth, respectively.
In the final men’s race of the day, the Open Four among four boats, Ithaca was again the top finisher with a winning time of 7:25.431 and a nine second margin of victory. University of Rochester A claimed silver at 7:34.457 and RIT earned bronze with a time of 7:58.951. University of Rochester B was fourth (8:09.417).
