Liberty League announces 2025-26 Men's Squash Awards

Following a vote by the league's head coaches at the conclusion of the season, the Liberty League has announced its 2025-26 Men's Squash major awards and All-League teams.

PLAYER OF THE YEAR: Juan Felipe Hernandez, Senior, Denison University

Denison University senior Juan Felipe Hernandez was selected as the Liberty League Player of the Year after a strong season at the top of the Big Red lineup. Hernandez compiled a 13-3 record in dual matches while competing at the No. 1 position for the Big Red. He dropped just a single game across his 13 victories. He earned Liberty League Performer of the Week honors twice during the season. At the Liberty League Championship, Hernandez went a perfect 3-0 with a trio of 3-0 sweeps against St. Lawrence, Haverford, and Bard. As a team, Denison went 2-1 at the league championship and finished third.

ROOKIE OF THE YEAR: Gilberto Aceves Moreno, University of Rochester

University of Rochester first-year Gilberto Aceves Moreno was recognized as the Liberty League Rookie of the Year after making an immediate impact for the Yellowjackets this season. He is the first Yellowjacket to be named Rookie of the Year since the 2021-22 season. Moreno started the year at the No. 1 position and did not look back, going 7-9 overall, including a 7-7 mark in dual matches. He posted a pair of 3-1 victories at the College Squash Association (CSA) Divisional Team Championships in the Hoehn Cup against #13 MIT and #18 Middlebury. He was also one of two Rochester players to qualify for the CSA Individual Championships this season. Moreno earned Liberty League Performer of the Week honors once this season and was a three-time Rookie of the Week selection.

COACHING STAFF OF THE YEAR: University of Rochester

For the seventh straight season, the men's squash coaching staff at University of Rochester has been named the Liberty League Coaching Staff of the Year. It also marks the third consecutive honor for head coach Matt Dukarm. Dukarm guided the Yellowjackets to a 6-8 overall record this season and a seventh straight Liberty League title (13th overall). Rochester played in the Hoehn Cup at the College Squash Association Team Divisional Championships (Feb. 26 & 27) and had two players: Gilberto Aceves Moreno and Dhirren Rajarathinam qualify for the CSA Individual Championships (Jan. 23 & 24).
