Liberty League announces 2024-2025 Men's Squash Award Recipients

The Liberty League has announced the major award winners for the 2024-25 men's squash season. University of Rochester senior Yash Fadte was selected as Player of the Year. St. Lawrence University first-year Grégory Malsang was chosen as Rookie of the Year. The University of Rochester, led by head coach Matt Dukarm, was recognized as the Liberty League Coaching Staff of the Year.
 
Player of the Year

University of Rochester senior Yash Fadte was selected as the Liberty League Player of the Year. Fadte compiled a team-best 12-5 record in dual matches while playing in the number-one position for the Yellowjackets. He earned Liberty League Performer of the Week honors a league-high four times this past season. Fadte was also selected as the recipient of the College Squash Association’s Skillman Award, the top honor in men’s college squash, given each year to a senior student-athlete who has displayed outstanding sportsmanship and skill throughout their college career. He posted wins over top players from Dartmouth, Tufts, Western Ontario, St. Lawrence, Hobart and Franklin & Marshall while also going 3-0 at the CSA Divisional Team Championships. Fadte was a participant in the Pool (A) Division at the CSA Individual Championships.
 
Rookie of the Year

St. Lawrence University first-year player Grégory Malsang was selected as the Liberty League Rookie of the Year after a strong first season for the Saints. Malsang was a four-time honoree as Liberty League Rookie of the Week and three-time selection as Performer of the Week this past season. He went 15-3 in dual matches (12-1 at number-one; 3-2 at number-two), including a 14-match winning streak. Malsang also went 2-0 at the Liberty League Championships and was named the Tournament's Most Outstanding Player. Prior to the tournament, he competed in the Molloy East at the CSA Individual Nationals and advanced to the semifinal round.
 
Coaching Staff of the Year
University of Rochester – Matt Dukarm, Head Coach
 
University of Rochester second-year head coach Matt Dukarm was selected as the Liberty League Coach of the Year for the second straight year. Dukarm led the Yellowjackets to a 10-9 overall record, a Liberty League title, and a win over MIT in the consolation final of the College’s Squash Association’s Hoehn Cup draw. The Liberty League title was the program’s sixth straight and 12th overall. Dukarm coached four players selected to the All-Liberty League first team and two players selected to the second team.
