ITHACA, N.Y. – The Liberty League men's and women's tennis championships return to the Reis Tennis Center at Cornell University as six men's teams and six women's teams will compete for Liberty League championships this Friday-Sunday, May 2-4. The top two teams for both men and women earn first-round byes. Two first-round matches will be held on Friday, May 2, two semifinals on Saturday, May 3, and the championship match on Sunday, May 4, for each gender. The championship teams receive the Liberty League's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championships.

ABOUT THE TOURNAMENT...
Women's Championship: Top-seeded Skidmore will be aiming for its 14th straight Liberty League title. The Thoroughbreds finished in a three-way tie for first at 7-1 along with Vassar and RPI. Skidmore earned the top seed by winning a combined 11 singles and doubles matchese against the other two teams. Vassar, which won 10 singles and doubles matches head-to-head, is the second seed, while RPI (six singles and doubles matches won) is seeded third. Skidmore defeated Vassar, 5-2, but fell to RPI, 4-3. Vassar defeated RPI 4-0. As of April 30, there are five Liberty League teams ranked in the latest ITA Top-75 poll — RPI (25), Vassar (28), Skidmore (34), St. Lawrence (36) and Union (42).
Men's Championship: Top-seeded RPI has won three straight Liberty League men's tennis titles and four in the past seven years. Only one other time in the league's history has a school captured four straight men's tennis titles (Skidmore from 2014 to 2017). The Engineers, who enter the league tournament having won 12 straight matches have won six of their eight Liberty League matches by 7-0 scores this season. The only exceptions were road matches against Skidmore and Vassar, which both resulted in 5-2 victories. RPI senior Aiden Drover-Mattinen is currently 31-1 in singles play this season, including a perfect 17-0 record at first singles. As of April 30, there are six Liberty League teams ranked in the latest ITA Top-75 poll — RPI (10), Skidmore (42), Hobart (45), RIT (62), Vassar (69) and Ithaca (74).
