Vassar cruises to third consecutive Liberty League Women’s Cross Country title

CANTON, N.Y. – Vassar College claimed its third consecutive Liberty League title at the 2025 Cross Country Championships on Saturday as the Brewers finished with all five of their scoring runners among the top 13 individuals.
 
The 2025 championship was held on the campus of St. Lawrence University for the second straight year at the Saints’ Ronald C. Hoffmann Cross Country Course with Clarkson University serving as this year’s host. The Brewers are the first Liberty League women’s cross country team to win more than two consecutive titles since St. Lawrence University won 13 straight from 2002 through 2014.
 
Vassar tallied 36 points and easily eclipsed runner-up St. Lawrence by 33 points. The Saints, with 69 points, were the team runner-up for the first time since 2023 and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) was third with 75 points. Ithaca College finished fourth, totaling 86 points on the day, and Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) was fifth with 104. Union College (165), William Smith College (221), Clarkson University (241), and Bard College (283) rounded out the conference teams.
 
RPI junior Jules Bleskoski was the individual champion and paced the 101-runner field, traversing the 6,000-meter course with a time of 21:17.3. She won the race by nearly 30 seconds and with a 5:43 pace for the individual crown.
 
Vassar was headlined by defending individual champion Haley Schonegge, who finished as the individual runner-up with a time of 21:47.4. Teammates Anika Mueller-Hickler and Adelaide Nyhan placed among the top five in fourth and fifth respectively with times of 22:44.6 and 22:46.5 respectively. All three earned All-Liberty League first team honors, which recognizes individuals who finish first through seventh. In total, the Brewers saw seven garner all-conference accolades
 
The Vassar trio of Schoenegge, Mueller-Hickler, and Nyhan were joined by Bleskoski, RIT’s Kathryn Arbegast, who placed third (22:22.0), Avery Blanchard from St. Lawrence (6th, 22:51.1) and Ithaca’s Lola Gitlin (7th, 22:51.4) on the All-Liberty League first team.
 
Runners finishing in spots eight through 14 earned second team All-Liberty League honors. The second team consisted of a pair of Vassar runners, three St. Lawrence runners as well as one from RIT and one from RPI. Therese Georgia from RIT was eighth at 22:55.7 and she was followed by the Saints’ duo of Charlotte Blake (9th, 23:04.1) as well as Quinn Sirgany (10th, 23:04.8). RPI’s Claudia Wolf posted a time of 23:06.1 for 11th with two from Vassar (Acadia Heland, Cayley Swaim) not far behind in 12th and 13th with times of 23:07.3 and 23:13.1 respectively. St. Lawrence’s Madison Beaudoin snagged the final spot of the All-Liberty League second team with a time of 23:20.2 for 14th.
 
The Liberty League also recognizes an honorable mention that represents individuals that finish fifteenth through twenty-first.
