Four Liberty League football players have been selected to the 2020 d3football.com Preseason All-American teams.
Two of the honorees—Union College junior Tim Driscoll and Hobart College senior Emmett Forde were named to the first team while Union College junior Ike Irabor and St. Lawrence University senior Max Warden earned second team recognition.
Driscoll made all 12 starts for the Dutchmen at left tackle in 2019. He was part of an offensive line that allowed only seven sacks and averaged over 400 yards of offense per game. Driscoll earned All-Liberty League first team honors following last season and he was also named to the d3football.com All-East Region second team.
Forde, the 2019 Liberty League Defensive Player of the Year and linebacker for the Statesmen paced the team in tackles, tackles for loss, sacks, fumbles forced and fumbles recovered last season. In 2019, he recorded 81 tackles, 21.0 for loss, seven sacks, three forced fumbles and two recovered fumbles. Forde averaged at least three tackles per game and recorded a season-high of 12 twice. He garnered many accolades following the 2019 campaign, including All-America honors from D3Football.com (first team), American Football Coaches Association (AFCA, first team) and the Associated Press (AP, second team).
Irabor played in 11 of 12 games for the Dutchmen last season where he ran for 1,231 yards and recorded 16 touchdowns. He is currently ranked seventh in school history in rushing touchdowns and eighth in rushing yards in a single season. Following the 2019 season, he was named the 2019 Liberty League Offensive Player of the Year and a d3football.com All-American (third team).
Warden, a starter of all 10 games for the Saints in 2019, anchored the Saints’ offensive line last season as they set program records for passing yards (3,301) and completions (271). He helped St. Lawrence accumulate 4,120 total yards of offense, good for second in program history. Warden was an All-Liberty League first team honoree and earned a spot on the d3football.com All-East third team.
