Liberty League announces 2018-19 Men's Tennis award recipients

2018-19 Liberty League Men’s Tennis Awards
 
Player of the Year: JT Wynne, Jr., Skidmore College
 
Skidmore College junior JT Wynne was selected as the Liberty League Player of the Year. An NCAA qualifier in the Division III Individual Singles Championship, Wynne is the Liberty League's highest-ranked player, ranking fourth in the Northeast Region in singles and sixth in doubles along with freshman teammate Noah Williamson. Wynne and Williamson were also selected as the first alternates for the NCAA Division III Doubles Championship. Wynne has compiled a 19-7 singles record and a 13-4 mark in dual-match play, all at the No. 1 position. Including the Liberty League tournament, he went 8-0 in Liberty League dual-match play. Wynne recorded the decisive point in the Liberty League championship match, picking up a victory at first singles against RPI.
 
Rookie of the Year: Noah Williamson, Fr., Skidmore College
 
Skidmore College first-year athlete Noah Williamson was selected as Liberty League Rookie of the Year. Williamson compiled an 11-11 singles record including a 5-1 mark dual-match record against Liberty League opponents. In doubles play, Williamson was 15-8 overall, including 10-5 with junior teammate JT Wynne. Williamson and Wynne were selected as the first alternates for the NCAA Division III Individual Doubles Championship. The pair compiled a 10-4 record at first doubles, including 6-0 in dual matches against Liberty League opponents. Williamson was selected Liberty League Rookie of the Week twice during the 2018-19 season.
 
Coaching Staff of the Year: Skidmore College – Nate Simms, Head Coach
 
After leading Skidmore College to its fifth Liberty League title and NCAA bid in the last six years, head coach Nate Simms received the league’s top coaching honor. With a lineup consisting of just one senior, Simms led the Thoroughbreds to a 15-5 overall record, a No. 17 national ranking and a No. 7 ranking in the ITA Northeast Region as the team heads into the NCAA Tournament. During Liberty League dual-match play, Skidmore players combined for a 42-6 record in singles play and 23-1 in doubles. Simms is assisted by Bill Brahler.
