2012-13 All-Liberty League Men's Basketball

The Liberty League has announced its 2012-13 All-League awards for men's basketball. The major award winners and all-league teams are listed below.

PLAYER OF THE YEAR: Stefan Thompson, Sr., Guard, Hobart College

Senior guard Stefan Thompson helped Hobart to its third consecutive Liberty League regular season championship. A two-time league performer of the week in the 2012-13 season and three-time All-League selection, Thompson led the Liberty League in both assists per game (5.3) and assist to turnover ratio (2.6). He scored 20 or more points in 10 games this season, including a career-high 30 points in a home win against Union. Heading into the postseason, he held the Hobart record for career games (110) and career starts (108) and ranked second in assists (475) and fifth in points (1,599).

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR: Dan Martin, Sr., Forward, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute

RPI senior forward Dan Martin led the Engineers to the Liberty League tournament as the team’s leading rebounder (6.7 per game) and shot blocker (2.6 per game).  Second in the league in blocks and seventh overall in rebounding, Martin was also third in field goal percentage, shooting 57.7 percent from the floor. Martin collected 10 or more rebounds in five games, including a season-high of 13 in a non-league game against Fisher College. His season-high of six blocks came in a conference matchup against Clarkson in January.

ROOKIE OF THE YEAR: Aldin Medunjanin, Fr., Guard, Skidmore College*

Freshman guard Aldin Medunjanin led the two-time defending Liberty League Champion Thoroughbreds into the postseason as the team’s leading scorer averaging 15.0 points per game. Medunjanin also led the team in free throw percentage (.846), rebounds per game (5.6), assists per game (4.9) and minutes played (35.2 per game). The five-time Liberty League Rookie of the Week is one of only two Division III freshman to earn a triple double this season, posting 11 points, 10 assists and 10 rebounds in a road win at Bard.
