The No. 16 St. Lawrence University Saints battled it out until the end, but a burst in the fourth quarter gave the No. 3 Babson Beavers the 13-9 win on Sunday afternoon in the third round of the NCAA Tournament in Babson Park, Mass.
Ted Wilson led the Scarlet and Brown with four goals, while Asa Beach scored two. Jamie Rosenzweig, Jensen Kohler and Cam Croasdaile each scored once. Rosenzweig also picked up three ground balls and caused two turnovers. Drew Knight picked up eight ground balls with the long pole, while he, Dan Anderson and Rhett Palmer caused two turnovers each.
Wilson continued his strong play from Saturday, with two goals, and a third from Beach, gave St. Lawrence a 3-0 lead out of the gate. Babson went on a run of its own and knotted the game 3-3 at the end of the first quarter.
The second quarter started off with a defensive stand on both sides of the ball, with a scoreless six minutes. The teams traded goals and the game remained tied up 5-5 at the half.
Wilson and Beach kicked off the third quarter with back-to-back goals, giving the Saints a two-goal advantage. The Beavers worked their way back with two goals, but a big goal from Kohler, gave the Saints an 8-7 edge heading into the fourth.
The fourth quarter sealed the win for Babson, as the Beavers outscored the Saints 6-1 for the 13-9 final.
"It's always hard when your season comes to an end," said head coach Mike Mahoney. "I'm so proud of this team, we've had tremendous leadership since the start of the season and everyone left it all out there, just like we said we would. Babson had the last push when it was all said and done and congrats to them on the win."
Babson led 25-15 in shots on goal and the Saints held a 30-29 edge in ground balls. St. Lawrence went 1-for-3 on the man-up, while Babson was 0-for-1.
Four Beavers each scored two goals, and Beau Burns won 19 faceoffs.
Heath Mann had another solid day in goal with 12 saves. Andrew Almquist made six for the Beavers.
St. Lawrence closed their 2026 campaign at 12-7, while Babson (18-2) advances to the Elite Eight next weekend.
