Vassar's Haley Schoenegge garners Third Team CSC Academic All-America honors

Sophomore becomes the third in cross country/track and field program history to be named a CSC Academic All-American

Greenwood, Ind. – Vassar College Sophomore Women's Cross Country and Track and Field standout Haley Schoenegge has added another postseason honor to an impressive resume with a Third Team College Sports Communicators Academic All-American citation. Schoenegge becomes just the third such honoree in program history.

Schoenegge, an Economics major and member of the Liberty League All-Academic Team, joins Vassar Athletics Hall of Famer Heather Ingraham '15 and Sasha Allison '22 as the only other Academic All-American honorees from the College Sports Communicators. Schoenegge is just one of 46 total Division III women's cross country/track and field student-athletes honored with the prestigious Academic All-American honor in 2024-25. 

Schoenegge put together another record-breaking day at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships as she earned back-to-back outdoor national crowns in the 1500 meters as she outpaced the next closest finisher by almost three seconds and tallied a 67 second final lap to pull away for her second national title. The sophomore continued her illustrious career with First Team All-American honors in the 5000 meters with a time of 16:36.19 to finish fifth overall on the track at SPIRE Institute.

The sophomore also earned her third USTFCCCA Regional Track Athlete of the Year last week and the sophomore earned her second straight conference titles in the 1500 meters and the 5000 meters to earn her second straight Most Outstanding Track Performer of the Meet honor at the Liberty League Outdoor Championships.

Schoenegge became the first student-athlete in Vassar College history to win two national championships in a career as she took home her second overall and first indoor national title in the mile with a time of 4:47.04 at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships at Nazareth University. Schoenegge also closed the championship with Second Team All-American honors in the 3000 meters with a time of 9:46.83. Schoenegge took home her second career National Championship and her first indoor national title as she posted a career-best time of 4:47.04 and now holds the 11th fastest mile time in Division III history.  She also set the Nazareth University facility record with her time while outpaced the next finisher by almost two seconds and turning in a final 200 meters split of 33.64.

Schoenegge earned the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Mideast Region Indoor Track Athlete of the Year and was an All-Region selection following a Liberty League Indoor Track and Field Mile title. 

Schoenegge raced to a national-runner up finish at the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships with a time of 20:58.2 for the best finish in Vassar history and helped lead the team to a 20th place team finish, which also was a new program-best finish. The sophomore has put together a record-breaking season as she also earned the Liberty League individual title with a course record and Liberty League Championship record time at the Ronald C. Hoffman course at St. Lawrence.

Schoenegge also helped lead the Brewers to their second straight Liberty League Championship crown and followed it up with a second place finish at the NCAA Mideast Region Championship, which saw Vassar score a fourth place team finish (best finish at the meet in school history) and earn a bid to the NCAA Championship meet.
