Following a vote by the conference's nine head coaches, the Liberty League has announced its 2025 Volleyball major award winners and All-League teams.
PLAYER OF THE YEAR: Wesley Slavin, Junior, Setter, Ithaca College
For the fourth consecutive season, an Ithaca volleyball player has claimed Liberty League Player of the Year honors, with Wesley Slavin earning the accolade for the second time since 2024. Slavin appeared in all 30 matches and all but three sets this season (106 of 109) for the Bombers. She recorded a team-high 1,106 assists and averages 10.43 per set, which ranks second among league leaders. Slavin was also among the conference’s top 10 in service aces (T-5th, 57) and aces per set (8th, 0.54). Nationally, she is 11th in Division III for assists per set, while as a team Ithaca averages 12.2 assists per set, good for 27th in Division III. Slavin posted 20-plus assists in 27 matches, had more than 40 assists 13 times, and reached 50-plus three times, including a season-high 55 assists in the Liberty League Championship match, where Slavin helped the Bombers secure their fourth straight league title. Slavin, a two-time Liberty League Performer of the Week selection this season, also produced a .268 hitting percentage, averaged 2.14 digs per set (227 total), and added 30 blocks on the year.
ROOKIE OF THE YEAR: Addison Leadbetter, Middle Blocker/Right Side, Ithaca College
For the first time since 2023, an Ithaca College first-year was named Liberty League Rookie of the Year, with Addison Leadbetter earning the 2025 award. Leadbetter had a strong first year with the Bombers, appearing in all 30 matches and all 109 sets to date. She leads all Ithaca starters in hitting percentage at .284 and ranks second on the team with 74 blocks and 0.68 blocks per set. A three-time Liberty League Rookie of the Week honoree, Leadbetter is also among the Bombers’ top three in kills (3rd, 205) and service aces (3rd, 39). Within the conference, she ranks eighth in hitting percentage, sixth in total blocks, and eighth in blocks per set. She also sits 11th in the Liberty League in total points (309) and 12th in points per set (2.83).
COACHING STAFF OF THE YEAR: Union College – Annie DeLoid, Head Coach; Assistant Coaches Ben Rosenthal, Sydney Neff, and Taylor Marcella
Union College head coach Annie DeLoid and her assistants were named the Liberty League Coaching Staff of the Year after guiding the Garnet Chargers to a 22-9 overall record and a 7-1 mark in conference play. Union finished second in the league standings for the first time since 2015 and closed the regular season on a nine-match winning streak (October 18-November 8), including five victories against Liberty League opponents. The Garnet Chargers’ .875 conference winning percentage is their highest since regular season play began in 2011, and their 22 total wins mark the program’s most in a season since 2016. Union ranked second in the league in digs per set (16.49) and third in hitting percentage (.221), opponent hitting percentage (.158), points per set (16.13), assists per set (11.75), and kills per set (12.65).
