Liberty League announces 2022-23 Women's Basketball Awards

Following a vote by the league's head coaches at the conclusion of the regular season, the Liberty League announced its 2022-23 Women's Basketball Major Awards and All-League teams.
 
PLAYER OF THE YEAR: Emily Dorn, Senior, Forward, Ithaca College
 
Ithaca College senior forward Emily Dorn was named the Liberty League Player of the Year. Dorn was the Bombers' leading scorer this season with 10.8 points and 6.3 rebounds per game. She shot 105-for-206 from the field, good for a team-best 51.0 shooting percentage. She was also second on the team in free throws made with 52 (74.3%). Dorn played in all 24 games for the Bombers so far this season and is currently among the league's top-12 in blocked shots per game (5th, 1.1), scoring (7th) and rebounding (12th). The Bombers were the Liberty League regular season champions and earned the top seed of the tournament. They return to the NCAA Tournament, thanks to an at-large bid, for the 18th time in program history.
 
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR: Eliza Srinivasan, Senior, Point Guard, Vassar College
 
Vassar College senior point guard Eliza Srinivasan was recognized with Liberty League Defensive Player of the Year honors for the second time. Tasked with guarding the opponent's top player, Srinivasan played and started in all 27 games for the Brewers this season. She averaged a team-high 35 minutes per game and tied for fourth among league leaders in steals per game (1.6) with 44 on the year. She also contributed on the offensive end with a league-best 138 assists (5.1 per game) and 7.8 points per game, good for fifth on the team.
 
ROOKIE OF THE YEAR: Jackie Malley, Guard, St. Lawrence University
 
St. Lawrence University first-year guard Jackie Malley was selected the Liberty League Rookie of the Year. Malley made an immediate impact with the Saints as a starter in all 25 games this season. She led all Liberty League first-year players in points per game (10.8), ranking her seventh in the conference overall. She paced the conference in three-pointers made with 65, averaging a league-best 2.8 per game. She was also tops among league leaders in three-pointer shooting percentage at 33.9 percent (65-for-192).
 
COACHING STAFF OF THE YEAR: Skidmore College – Jessica Turner, Head Coach & Assistant Coach Dariah Duncan
 
The Skidmore College women's basketball coaching staff earned Liberty League Coaching Staff of the Year. Jessica Turner and her assistant coach Dariah Duncan directed the Thoroughbreds to a 20-5 overall record to end the regular season and a 16-2 mark against league opponents for the second seed in the Liberty League tournament. With a pair of victories in the tournament, Skidmore claimed its first Liberty League title since the 2017-18 season and set its single-season program record for wins with 22. The Thoroughbreds are now 22-5 as the they head to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2018.
