Liberty League Student-Athlete Q&A with Clarkson's Hannah Earl

Hannah Earl, Clarkson University

Year: Senior
Hometown: St. Albans, Vt.
Sport: Women’s Basketball
Position: Forward
Major: Engineering and Management / Minor: Project Management (Global Supply Chain)

Why did choose to attend Clarkson University?
“The Engineering and Management program was a huge draw to the campus, because at the time it was one of only two accredited programs in the nation. The community feel was important to me as well. As an athlete I was able to stay overnight and I was immediately welcomed by everyone I met on my visit and it was clear that I could make this home for the next four years.”

Why did you decide to be a Division III student-athlete?
“To me Division III is perfect because you play purely because you want to rather than playing because you have to. It gives you the perfect balance, allowing you to love your sport, while being committed to your studies as well.”

What Liberty League opponent do you most look forward to playing and why?
“My favorite Liberty League opponent is St. Lawrence. It’s always a big game because of our Route 11 Rivalry and it’s consistently been one of our most competitive games. It’s been exciting for me, since a majority of the girls on the SLU [women’s basketball] team went to my high school’s biggest rival. I was able to compete against some of my favorite opponents for another four years!”

Are you a member of any other clubs/organizations at your school, in addition to athletics?
“I am a team representative for our Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC): working as a voice for athletes, offering input on rules, regulations and policies that affect the lives of student athletes. I am the treasurer of Alpha Pi Mu, our Engineering and Management honor society as well as part of the E&M Task Force, to help increase interest in my unique major. I also work with the Certification Reimbursement Board to assist students in gaining certifications and leadership opportunities that will help them in their academic and professional endeavors.”

What are your future career goals/plans?
“My goal is to pursue a career in Project Management or Product Development upon graduation.”

Have you done any internships/volunteering to help you with that goal?
“During the summer of 2019 I had an internship for GlobalFoundries as a Project Manager and in the summer of 2020 I worked for Estee Lauder as a part of their Resarch & Development team. I have loved my last two internships and they have helped guide me towards my future goals.
