Liberty League announces Spring 2020 All-Academic Teams

TROY, N.Y. – Liberty League commissioner Tracy King has announced that 948 spring sport student-athletes have qualified for the league's All-Academic Teams in their respective sports, an increase of 52 from last spring (896).

"It is with the deepest respect and admiration that I recognize our Liberty League spring sport student-athletes for their academic achievement," said King. "Spring student-athletes had been preparing for their season since September while balancing academics and practices. While the season came to a premature end - even before it began for some teams - our students continue to excel with their academic programs, even from a distance, as the school year comes to a close. For student-athletes graduating this spring, I thank you for all you have done to make our teams, institutions and league among the best in Division III. For student-athletes returning in the fall, continue to persevere and focus on your goals ahead. We'll get through this together."

To be recognized as a member of the All-Academic Team a student-athlete must be a sophomore or higher in class standing with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.30. The spring championship sports include baseball, men's and women's golf, men's and women's lacrosse, men's and women's rowing, softball, men's and women's tennis, and men's and women's track and field.

For the 2019-20 academic year, 630 fall sport student-athletes and 267 winter sport student-athletes also qualified for Liberty League All-Academic Teams. Combined with 948 spring-sport student-athletes, a total of 1,845 student-athletes achieved a 3.30 cumulative grade point average or better - the most in the league's history, which dates to 1995-96.
