2018 Liberty League Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Awards

Track Performer of the Year: Taryn Cordani, Sr., Ithaca College

Ithaca senior Taryn Cordani was selected as the Liberty League Track Performer of the Year. Cordani capped off a successful career with the Bombers at the 2018 NCAA Track & Field Championships as she added two more All-America honors to her collection, earning nine overall, and was named the USTFCCCA Atlantic Track Athlete of the Year. She was the individual champion in the 10,000 meters (35:03.20) and placed third in the 5,000 meters (16:52.78). It was her second straight individual win in the 10,000 at NCAAs becoming the first to repeat in the event since 2004-05. At the Liberty League championships, she won the 10,000 with a time of 36:23.83 and was the runner-up in the 1,500 meters (4:40.82) en route to helping Ithaca win its first Liberty League Outdoor Women’s Track & Field title.

Field Performer of the Year: Kylee Bartlett, Jr., University of Rochester

Rochester junior Kylee Bartlett was named Liberty League Field Performer of the Year. Bartlett claimed her second straight heptathlon title at the 2018 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships with a score of 4,716 points to earn All-America honors. She also competed in the 100-meter hurdles, where she finished 14th (15.15). At the Liberty League championships, she was the individual champion of the heptathlon as she captured six of the seven events (200-meter dash, 100-meter hurdles, high jump, long jump, shot put, javelin) and placed fourth in one (800 meters) to score 4,890 points, ranking third nationally before heading to NCAAs. She was also an individual champion at the league championship in the 100-meter hurdles with a meet record time of 14.65 seconds.

Rookie of the Year: Harley Wilson, Fr., Rochester Institute of Technology

RIT first year Harley Wilson was recognized as Liberty League Rookie of the Year. She became RIT’s first freshman in program history to earn All-America honors as she was sixth in the 400-meter hurdles at the 2018 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships with a time of 1:00.94. She won six of nine races in the 400-meter hurdles this season, including at the Liberty League Championships. She lowered the school record time in the event on five different occasions. She was also part of the 4-x-400-meter relay team that shattered a school record time at the All-Atlantic Region Championships as they finished in 3:59.07.

Ithaca College head coach Jennifer Potter and her coaching staff have been selected as the Liberty League coaching staff of the year for the outdoor season. Potter guided Ithaca to its first Liberty League title in its first year as a league member. The Bombers recorded 246 points in the championship and had a commanding 90-point lead over second-place Rochester (156). Ithaca also won the All-Atlantic Region Championship among 24 teams, edging host Brockport by four points. At the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field championship, the Bombers placed 14th as Taryn Cordani earned All-America honors in the 5,000 and 10,000 meters.
