Kellogg, Breton earn top awards in Liberty League Women's Cross Country

2015 Liberty League Women's Cross Country Awards
 
RUNNER OF THE YEAR: Megan Kellogg, St. Lawrence University, So., Queensbury, N.Y.
 
St. Lawrence University sophomore Megan Kellogg was selected as the Liberty League Runner of the Year following a season in which she won seven races, including the Liberty League individual championship and NCAA Atlantic Region title. A seven-time selection as Liberty League performer of the week, Kellogg won all seven races in which she competed prior to the NCAA Division III Championship race. She won the Liberty League individual title in 21:44.0, which was the third-fastest time ever on St. Lawrence’s Hoffmann cross country course. Kellogg was named the Atlantic Region Runner of the Year after winning the NCAA Atlantic Regional race in 21:44.6, a 12.1-second victory. She finished 66th at the national championship meet.
 
ROOKIE OF THE YEAR: Elina Breton, St. Lawrence, Fr., Suffern, N.Y.
 
St. Lawrence University freshman Elina Breton was selected as the Liberty League Rookie of the Year. A four-time selection as Liberty League rookie of the week, Breton was the top freshman finisher at the Liberty League championship, placing 11th in 23:22.46, earning All-Liberty League second-team honors. At the NCAA Atlantic Region Championship, she was 34th overall, including fifth among freshman finishers. Breton was the top rookie finisher among Liberty League competitors at the regional championship.
 
COACHING STAFF OF THE YEAR: Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute – John Lynch, Head Coach
 
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute head coach John Lynch was selected as the Liberty League Coach of the Year in women’s cross country. Lynch guided his team to the Liberty League championship, which ended a streak of 13 straight team victories by St. Lawrence University. The Engineers placed five runners in the top 12 in compiling 34 team points. RPI was also the league’s top team at the NCAA Atlantic Regional, placing third in the field of 37 teams, which earned the Engineers an at-large berth to the NCAA Division III Championship. At the national championship, RPI placed ninth, which was the highest-ever finish in the history of the program. Sophomore Jaime Lord finished 15th individually, earning All-America honors.
