St. Lawrence sweeps Liberty League Women's Cross Country Awards

RUNNER OF THE YEAR: Cassia Hameline, St. Lawrence University, Sr., New Hartford, N.Y.
St. Lawrence University senior Cassia Hameline was selected as the Liberty League Runner of the Year. A track and field athlete in her first year with the Saints cross country team, Hameline finished eighth at the NCAA Division III Championship, becoming the fourth top-10 finisher in St. Lawrence program history. Hameline's All-America finished helped the Saints to a third-place team finish at the national championship meet. She won four races finished second in two others. Hameline's wins included the Liberty League and NYSCTC Championships. She was a seven-time Liberty League Performer of the Week honoree.
ROOKIE OF THE YEAR: Megan Kellogg, St. Lawrence, Fr., Queensbury, N.Y.
St. Lawrence University freshman Lisa Grohn was selected as the Liberty League Rookie of the Year. The first freshman All-America in St. Lawrence history, Kellogg was the top freshman finisher at the NCAA Division III Championship, finishing in 11th place. The top freshman finisher in at the Liberty League, NYSCTC and Atlantic Region Championships, Kellogg was a seven-time selection as Liberty League Rookie of the Week. She placed in the top six in every race except the Paul Short Invitational, where she was second among Division III rookies.

St. Lawrence University head coach Mike Howard led his team to a third-place finish at the NCAA Division III Championship. The NCAA Atlantic Region Coach of the Year, Howard guided the Saints to NYSCTC, Liberty League and Atlantic Region championships. St. Lawrence did not lose a Division III meet during the 2014 season. Howard is assisted by Kate Curran.
