2013 Liberty League Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championship Results
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – Led by multiple-event winners Elizabeth Edwards and Divya Biswal, St. Lawrence University won nine individual events to capture its second straight Liberty League women's outdoor track and field championship on Saturday at Vassar College.
Edwards, a graduate student, was named the co-track performer of the meet while Biswal, a sophomore, who won both the long and triple jumps, was voted the field performer of the meet. St. Lawrence won the team title with 216 points, followed by RPI (175), RIT (107), Vassar (97), Bard (14) and Union (8).
Vassar sophomore Ariel Bridges shared track performer of the meet honors with Edwards. Bridges won both the 100- and 200-meter dash events and was part of the first-place Vassar 4 x 100 and 4 x 400 meter relay squads. The Brewers' 4 x 400-meter relay squad set a meet record in 4:01.51.
Edwards set a Liberty League championship record in winning the 5,000 meters in 17:39.10 and also won the 1,500 with a time of 4:48.27. Biswal won the long jump with a 5.19 meter jump and jumped a Liberty League meet record 11.63 meters on her second jump and did not have to jump again in winning the triple jump.
The Saints gave the field some points with no entries in the first event of the meet, the 10,000 meters and were disqualified on a bad pass in the 4x100 relay but came storming back to take the lead, helped along by 22 points in the javelin. They also had an 18-point day in the high jump, led by senior Kylie Morris, who won the event with a Liberty League record mark of 1.63 meters with Marisa Turner finishing second.
Caroline Raue was the first Saint champion of the day for the women as she won the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 10:58.33 and Samantha Weber led the Saint point charge in the javelin with a throw of 30.66 meters. Jenna Jasinski finished third at 30.38 meters with Meghan O'Brien fourth and Hannah Kinsey finishing fifth.
Senior Jessica Marini won the 400 meter hurdles in 1:03.30 with Carly Stine second, both breaking the facility record while Jessica Tyree won the discus with a 36.27 meter throw with Kristen Linder third.
RIT senior Amanda Dole opened the meet by setting a championship record in the 10,000 with a time of 39:02.26.
The top two finishers in each event earn All-Liberty League honors.
