POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – Dr. Sharon Beverly, Director of Athletics & Physical Education at Vassar College since 2004, will be inducted into the Fairleigh Dickinson Hall of Fame on Saturday evening, October 6. Beverly served as head women’s basketball coach at FDU from 1988-99.

The evening will take place in the Grand Ballroom at the Park Ridge Marriott in Park Ridge, N.J. This year’s class includes seven individuals, one team and the fourth Al LoBalbo recipient. Four of the seven individuals are former student-athletes: Tom Gattoni (Baseball, 1974-77), Joe Huffman (Baseball, 1983-86), Brian Romero (Men’s Soccer, 1998-2001) and Paul Steeds (Track and Field, 1977-81). The class also includes former men’s basketball head coach Tom Green (1983-2009) along with former NCAA Faculity Athletic Representative and professor Richard Panicucci (1964-2011). The 1958 men’s soccer team is the lone squad being inducted, while former St. John’s men’s basketball head coach Lou Carnesecca (1965-92) will receive the Al LoBalbo award.
Dr. Beverly's 11-year career as coach at Division I FDU includes Northeast Conference (NEC) Championships in 1990 and 1992 and a regular season NEC title in 1993. Following the 1990 season, she was selected as the New Jersey State Division I Coach of the Year. In 1992, the Knights finished 23-4 and set the school record for victories. The following season, FDU tied for the NEC regular-season title with a 14-4 mark, and for her efforts Dr. Beverly was named the NEC Coach of the Year. Her 1992 team was inducted into the FDU hall of Fame in 2008. Six of Dr. Beverly’s student-atheltes have been individually inducted as well.
Following her career at FDU, Dr. Beverly was the head women's coach at NJIT from 1999-2002, leading the Highlanders to the most wins at the Division II level and breaking several school records.
