The 2011 Liberty League End-of-Season Awards, announced May 23.
2011 Liberty League Player of the Year
Andrew Guzick Vassar
Sophomore (Rochester, New York)
Ranked No. 7 nationally and No. 5 in the Northeast, Guzick went 25-6 overall in singles, and 16-2 in dual matches. He went 14-12 overall at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles. In the fall, Guzick won the ITA NE Regional Championship to qualify for the National Small College Championships. He defeated the Northeast's No. 1 ranked Luis Rattenhuber of Amherst 7-5, 6-4. Guzick led the league with seven Performer of the Week awards.
2011 Liberty League Co-Rookie of the Year
Oliver Loutsenko Skidmore
(Bellmore, New York)
Loutsenko was undefeated against Liberty League opponents on the year in both singles and doubles. His overall singles record on the year was 23-4, with a semifinal showing at ITA's in the fall and victory in the B flight at the Wallach Invitational. In doubles, Loutsenko and partner Alex Fromson had significant wins over Pomona-Pitzer, Claremont, Bowdoin, Bates, Trinity, and Vassar.
2011 Liberty League Co-Rookie of the Year
Jarrett Regier Rensselaer
(East Amherst, New York)
Regier posted a dominant 13-1 record at first singles in 14 matches. His only loss came in his first match, then winning 13 straight to close out the season. Additionally, he had a solid doubles record, going 10-4 in the first flight. Regier was a five-time Rookie of the Week and the league's Performer of the Week once.
2011 Liberty League Coaching Staff of the Year
Nate Simms Skidmore
Simms led Skidmore to the Liberty League championship and a fourth straight NCAA Tournament. The team was nationally ranked throughout the season. He is assisted by John LaRose.
