Hobart College first-year outfielder/pitcher Jack Byrnes hit .429 in three games at the plate and did not allow an earned run in two appearances on the mound. In the first game of a doubleheader against Keuka, he was 1-for-1 with a walk, a stolen base, an RBI, and a run scored in an 8-2 Hobart win. He earned the win in Game 2, pitching the final three innings of Hobart's extra-inning win over the Wolves. He allowed just one hit and struck out five. In the Statesmen's 3-0 win at Clarkson Saturday, Byrnes went 1-for-2 with two walks and a stolen base. In Game 1 on Sunday, he was 1-for-4, rapping an RBI single up the middle in the first inning. Byrnes closed out the week on the mound, throwing 3.1 innings of hitless ball. He struck out three and walked only one in a game Hobart won 9-7 in 11 innings. Byrnes has hit safely in four straight games and reached base in five straight.
