Union College first-year athlete Ashley Sheldon began her first collegiate outdoor season picking up where she left off after a strong indoor season. Sheldon scored the team's first points of the day at the Utica Pioneer Spring Invite in the 100-meter hurdles, coming in second in the event to score eight points with her 15.79 second time, just .15 seconds off the program record set by Jen Merinder '10. She later kicked off the field events in the high jump by smashing the program's nearly 20-year-old record. Sheldon cleared the 1.57-meter bar on her first jump before clearing the 1.62-meter leap on her first attempt to break the previous record of 1.59 meters set by Hannah LaMoy '07 in 2005. She cleared the 1.67-meter bar on her third attempt, the only competitor in the event to do so.
