University of Rochester first-year indfielder Sammy Besztery started seven of the Yellowjackets' eight games during spring break and finished with a .318 average, hitting 7-for-22 at the plate. He also totaled eight runs scored, two home runs, eight RBI, two walks and four hit by pitch. Besztery finished with a .591 slugging and .464 on-base percentage and was 1-for-1 on stolen base attempts. In the field, the second baseman was 24-for-25 (.960) in handling his defensive chances. Besztery’s best game came in the weekend finale against St. John Fisher where he smacked a two inside-the-park home runs, one of which being a grand slam to help secure Rochester’s 14-5 victory. He finished the Sunday doubleheader with multiple hits in both games, scored four total runs and drove in six RBI for the Yellowjackets.
