University of Rochester junior Gabe Thyne helped the Yellowjackets to a third-place finish at the 2023-24 All-Atlantic Region Indoor Track & Field Championships this past weekend in Pittsford, N.Y., winning the heptathlon competition. Overall, Thyne scored 4,653 points, a personal-best score and a mark that ranks 35th in NCAA Division III. Across the eight heptathlon events, Thyne scored five top-five finishes, won both the high jump and 1,000 meters and set a pair of personal bests in the shot put and 1,000 meters. Thyne won both the heptathlon high jump (1.82m) and 1,000 meters (2:45.53) and finished second in the 60 meters (7.31) and long jump (6.49m), fourth in the shot put (10.24m), fifth in the 60-meter hurdles (8.95) and sixth in the pole vault (3.45m).
