After breaking the Union College women's track and field 60 meter hurdles record in her first collegiate meet, first-year Ashley Sheldon shattered the program's high jump record this past Friday at the Utica Winter Opener, making it two records in two meets for the Andover, Mass. native. Sheldon cleared the bar at 1.62 meters on her third attempt at the would-be Union record, the only competitor at the event to do so, coming back to Schenectady with first place in the event and a new record after the previous record, set by Hannah LaMoy ‘07, stood for 19 years. Sheldon also clinched two more podium finishes on the afternoon, coming in third in the 60 meter hurdles with a 9.59 time, just .03 seconds shy of the record she put up at the Suffolk Relays, and was part of Union’s 4x200 unit that finished third in 1:54.44.
