University of Rochester senior Madeline O’Connell finished with two top-three results, both of which are top-five marks in Division III, during the opening meet of the 2023-24 season - the Nazareth Alumni Opener on Friday evening. O’Connell was the top Division III competitor and third-place finisher in the pole vault, clearing a school-record 3.75 meters. Her mark was a regional qualifier and is the top height in Division III so far this season. Later in the meet, O'Connell ran on the winning 4x400-meter relay team that earned a time of 3:58.27, also ranking in the Division III top-five, sitting at third overall at the early stages of the season.
