William Smith College senior goalkeeper Kristen McCormick helped the Herons to a 1-1 week as theĀ field hockey team defeated Susquehanna in the first round of the NCAA tournament before falling to No. 1 Middlebury in the second round. McCormick played a crucial role into the Herons win over the Riverhawks on Wednesday, recording a season-high 10 saves including seven in the fourth quarter as William Smith was down three players due to cards. She forced overtime for the Herons who scored just 1:15 into the overtime to advance to the second round. McCormick recorded eight saves against the top-ranked Panthers in the second round as William Smith fell to Middlebury. Her shutout against Susquehanna was her third straight, and finishes the season at 11-5.
