Union College first-year midfielder Marco Perugini scored the lone goal in Union's 1-0 Liberty League opening victory over Vassar on Saturday. It was his third goal of the year and ties him for the team lead while also moving him into the top-eight in the conference. The win gave Union its first victory over Vassar in almost eight years and handed the Brewers their first conference loss after going unbeaten in conference play last season (5-0-4). Perugini is tied for the league lead in goals with three among all rookies, and leads all first years in the Liberty League with three assists and points with nine.
