University of Rochester junior Ashley Heffernan placed third among 11 competitors in the pentathlon at the All-Atlantic Region Championships on the weekend, helping Rochester’s team place second (58 points) among over 40 schools that scored. Heffernan’s total was 3,177 points, a new personal-best and score for the junior, which ranked among the top-30 in Division III this season. She was second in the 800 meters (2:27.56), 60-meter hurdles (9.13 seconds) and long jump (5.24 meters), while ranking seventh in the high jump (1.42 meters) and ninth in the shot put (8.16 meters). Both the long jump and 800 meter marks were personal-bests for the Heffernan.
